According to a news release, Wednesday night shortly after 11:00 p.m. two sheriff's deputies were reponding to a motorcycle crash on the Highway 26 bypass near County Highway N. One deputy changed lanes, and the second had to swerve to avoid rear-ending him. The second squad ended up side swipping the first one, before veering off into the ditch.
The Deputy driving the second squad car had to be extricted from the vehicle by the Milton Fire Department, and the Deputy driving the first squad was transported to the hospital as a precaution.
Deputies Niles Boeche and Christopher Krahn received minor injuries.
As it turns out the accident they were responding to wasn't an accident at all. The driver of the motorcycle had pulled over to rest because he was tired. No word on why he may have been laying down near the road.
