VIDEO: Crowds gather for Labor Day parade in Janesville

Near perfect weather greets a large gathering of spectators for the annual Labor Day Parade in downtown Janesville. The more than two hour event enjoyed a variety of features ranging from several marching bands to miniature jet cars. The biggest concern for most smaller children was how much candy they could haul home. Their parents however could not escape the meaning behind a day dedicated to labor. Many shared thoughts of a slowly improving economy, and questions if a blue collar culture could ever return to pre-recession pay and employment levels. Most though came to enjoy a day apart from their work and worries, and enjoy a tradition dating back decades in a community known for both its skilled workforce and union heritage.
