Milton man commended for fast fire action

As Milton Fire officials investigate a blaze damaging a home in the 900 block of Nelson Avenue, the police department is thanking a young man for his quick thinking and fast action. Police Chief Dan Layber says 22-year-old motorist Edward Berlanga was the first to notice the flames coming from the home, and after calling 9-1-1, turned a nearby garden hose on the flames. One resident was home at the time, but emerged safe. Layber says Berlanga should be commended for his active intervention in dousing the fire before it spread further.
