Monroe Woman Dies in Fatal Rock County Crash

The Rock County Sheriff's Office responds to a fatal crash.

According to a news release, shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the Sheriff's Office received a report of vehicle debris and tire tracks in the grass near the 17,000 block of West State Highway 81 in Avon Township.

A deputy responded and located a vehicle smashed up, and fairly obscured from view near a cornfield.

The driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Nicole E. Schultz of Monroe was trapped inside and deceased when the deputy arrived.

Investigation determined that Schultz had been traveling at a high rate of speed, when she lost control of the vehicle, went into the ditch, hit a driveway, and went airborne, coming to rest against a tree.

Schultz was last seen shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Monday night. The Sheriff's Office believes the accident happened about 45 minutes later, but since it was dark nobody saw anything until the next day.

This incident remains under investigation.
