Driver in La Prairie Two-Vehicle Crash is Charged

The Rock County Sheriff's Office is charging a 32-year-old Beloit man, who they say caused a two-vehicle accident in the town of La Prairie on Sunday.

25-year-old Miguel De Aquino Benito, and 32-year-old Ruben Abarca Meudino and were in a pick-up truck traveling east on Townline Road at County G around 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Authorities say they stopped at the stop sign, but pulled out in front of a mini-van driven by 85-year-old Joan Wotton from Janesville.

The pick-up truck rolled several times and the two received serious injuries.

Wotton was wearing a seat-belt and did not receive life-threatening injuries.

According to a news release from the Sheriff's office, Benito, who was the driver has been charged with second offense operating while intoxicated, two counts of operating while intoxicated causing great bodily injury, failure to yield right of way causing bodily harm, open intoxicants as a driver, and a seatbelt violation. Meudino, who was the passenger has been cited for open intoxicants as a passenger, and a seatbelt violation.
