Town of Beloit considers village option

Portions of the Town of Beloit could become a village.  The town board Monday night voted 5-0 to hold an information meeting for residents to comment and ask questions.  Several residents oppose incorporation and suggest the move would benefit the eastern, more developed side of the town, and would hurt the more rural areas.  Town Administrator Brian Wilson says areas to the west would continue to be a town, with a board, and could forge agreements to maintain the current police and fire service.  Supporters say it might limit the City of Beloit's ability to annex portions of the town.  No meeting date has been set.
