AUDIO: Beloit Police Respond to Outcry Over Removal of Fallen Officers Badge Number from Squads

Beloit Police make the decision to put fallen officer Pete Larson's badge number 23 back on their squad cars.

The decision was made to remove the #23 when the Beloit Police Department made the move to new squad cars.

Beloit Police Captain Dan Risse says that didn't sit well with the public.

Risse says the department had hoped to honor all fallen officers with a thin blue line decal.

While Pete Larson was the only sworn Beloit Police Officer to be killed in the line of duty, he's not the only officer working in Beloit to be killed.

In 1875, before the police department was established, an officer was killed by a circus worker, and in 1935, a former Beloit Police Officer, and Member of the Merchant Police was killed when he was thrown from a building.
