AUDIO: Teachers learn about drug abuse

Local educators get a lesson in spotting drug use. Edgerton Police Lieutenant Doug Vireck is happy to share what he's learned about identifying drug users with local school district administrators. Vireck spent some time Tuesday morning at the Janesville school district. He spelled out the different behaviors and symptoms accompanying drug abuse among the young. Assistant Principal at Parker High School in Janesville, Jolene Terrones is grateful for the knowledge. She says unlike alcohol and marijuana, many drugs have no tell-tale smell. Edgerton Middle School Dean of Students Jason Knott knows all too well the dangers illicit drug use has on children. A student died from an overdose four short years ago. He says the early the intervention, the better the outcome. Officials remind families, the biggest trend among kids is prescription drug abuse.
