Family Sues Janesville Bus Driver in Federal Court

The mother of a Janesville teenager, asked to move to the back of a Janesville transit System Bus has filed a lawsuit against the bus driver in federal court.

Although the City of Janesville is not names in the suit, last month the boy's attorney asked the city for $500,000.

The attorney for the boy, whose African American claims that the boy was asked to move to the back of a Janesville Transit System Bus in December because of his race.

A video of the incident released by the city shows the driver asking the boy to move for a handicap of disabled person, and when he mumbles something under his breath she throws him off the bus.

The bus driver retired from the city on January first.
