JCPenney to Close Janesville Store

A store that's been in Janesville for more than 90 years is set to close.

JCPenney announced yesterday (Wednesday) that it would be closing it's store in the Janesville Mall in May for financial reasons.

33 stores are set to close in total, including those in Fond du Lac, Rhinelander, Rice Lake, and Wausau.

In total, 2000 employees are set to lose there jobs nationwide, although there's no word on how many of those are from the Janesville store.

An email from a company spokesman says they're offering employees a two-day on site career training class, as well as separation benefits for those who don't remain with the company.
