Family of 6 Displaced by Fire in Janesville

A residential fire in Janesville causes about $60,000 in damage.

The incident happened shortly after 11:00 a.m. Sunday at a two-story house at 313 Rockport Road.

According to a news release from the Janesville Fire Department, when crews arrived on scene, they found smoke and flames coming from a second story window.

The six occupants of the home had already made it out safely with the help of the Janesville Police Department.

The fire was contained to the room where it started, although the home sustained smoke and minor water damage.

The Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing, food, and clothing.
