Train derails in Janesville

Hundreds of Janesville motorists likely know a new way to get to work, after a train derailment Wednesday morning blocked a major intersection on the city's near east side.  Police say a Wisconsin & Southern Railroad train slipped the tracks around 5:00 a.m. and blocked several intersections including what's best known as the "Five Points" near East Centerway Street.  Wisconsin & Southern spokesman Ken Lucht says the first 35 cars, of the 100-car train, went over a spring switch just fine, but the next two cars ran aground and bumped off the tracks.  Lucht says the train was carrying grain and the incident posed no health risk.  Traffic could not travel east or west on Court Street for a couple of hours.
