Frost prompts water warning
The Village of Brooklyn is going a step further than Janesville in safe guarding water lines. The village's Water Utility is recommending all residential and commercial customers keep a trickle of cold water running continuously. The village says customers will not be charged for the extra usage. In Janesville, its been suggested customers also keep a little water running. Customers in Janesville won't get a credit however, unless they're contacted directly by the water utility. Never the less, Janesville residents will have to pay to have their frozen water supply pipes thawed, all the way to the shut off valve, which is typically located near the property line.
