A local community rallies its business leaders to bolster economic development. Milton's first meeting of the Downtown Development Action Committee attracts representatives from close to 10% of the community's two-hundred businesses. City Administrator Jerry Schuetz says the group's goal will be to solidify the local economy and build property value. Milton Area Chamber of Commerce Director JoLynn Burden calls the effort a great idea. Burden says early efforts will likely include improved directional sign-age and re-branding. Schuetz admits many businesses are concerned the new Highway 26 bypass is keeping prospective customers away. The committee met for the first time Friday morning, and will meet again Friday March 28th.
