If all goes well, Riverside Park in Janesville will not be without a water feature this summer.
The City had removed operating expenses for the Riverside Park wading pool from the budget this year, in the hopes of building a new splash pad at the park.
With flooding and parking concerns putting those plans on hold, the Parks Department asked the City Council Monday night for $17,000 to keep the wading pool going another year.
Ultimately, the Janesville City Council voted unanimously to add another $17,000 to the Recreation Department for operation of the wading pool this year.
The one catch is that if the wading pool needs more than $3000 in repairs, it will not open at all.
