Evansville man arrested for robbing pharmacy and stealing car

Police say an Evansville man is under arrest for robbing a pharmacy and stealing a car.

According to a news release, Evansville Police were dispatched to a robbery at Evansville Family Health Pharmacy just before 2:30 on Monday afternoon.

An Evansville Police Sergeant chased the suspect, who officers later identified as 56-year-old Paul Engel, as he entered the front door of his residence on South Madison Street.

Officers set up a perimeter, but by then Engel had already gone out the back door.

Evansville Police asked the city's four public schools to keep students in their buildings for an extra half hour while Engel was on the loose in the area.

Officers finally took him into custody just before 8;00 p.m. Monday night.
