Senior fraud prevention planned in Janesville
Seniors are teaching the Janesville Police Department a thing or two about a new wave of technology based fraud. Sergeant Brian Donohoue says a recent fraud prevention seminar brought out a lot of stories from an age group who are becoming much more interested in securing their identities. Donohoue says so many seniors have expressed an interest, they've invited a representative from the State Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection for a repeat performance. Donohoue says seniors are becoming much more aware of how modern technology is making them vulnerable to "old" scams, in whole "new" ways. A free fraud prevention presentation is planned for the Janesville Senior Center from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.
