City of Janesville will acquire 12 homes to make way for a new fire station

The Janesville City Council moves to acquire 12 homes for the construction of the new Central Fire Station, and sets the price tag at $9 million.

Two other options the council discussed involved acquiring only seven homes to be demolished.

Ultimately the council approved the option supported by the Plan Commission in a six to one vote with council member Matt Kealey dissenting.
