After years of debate, the process to build a new central fire station in Janesville will likely move forward quickly according to City Manager Mark Freitag. Now that the Council has made the controversial decision to build a new central fire station, the next step will be its design. Freitag tells "Your Talk Show" on WCLO he would like to see someone from the neighborhood have input on the committee. Freitag appears to want to avoid any miscommunications during the design and construction phase of a new central fire station. He says city's web site will have a "Central Fire Station Replacement" page. The city council Monday night approved a plan to demolish 12 homes to make room for the new fire station. Firefighters could be moving in by the spring of 2016.
