Broadhead man gets 10 years for killing friend in drunk driving accident

A Broadhead man will spend a decade behind bars for killing his friend in a drunk driving accident.

34-year-old Sean Michael Waterman plead guilty in February to one count of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.

Waterman drove drunk and crashed his car on Highway 213 in the town of Spring Valley in September of 2012. His good friend, and passenger, 26-year-old Douglas Axelson was killed in the accident.

At the time of the crash, Waterman had two prior drunk driving convictions.

Wednesday Judge Richard Werner sentenced Waterman to 10 years of initial confinement and five years of extended supervision.
