Local runner heads back to Boston

South Beloit resident Andrea Amend will never forget the emotions she felt at 2:49 p.m. on April 15th, 2013.

Amend says she had just completed the Boston Marathon, and was in the finish chute about two blocks away.

At first Amend told herself she would never return to Boston, but eventually she decided that she needed to run it again to prove that the terrorist attack didn't get the best of her.

Amend runs her sixth Boston Marathon on Monday.

Other local runners headed to Boston for the Marathon on Monday include Lisa Dambach, Theresa Fritsch, Matthew Haeger, and Robert Russo of Janesville, and Albilio Monterio of Beloit.
