Janesville City Council considers referendum

The Janesville City council is wrestling with ways to pay for much needed road repairs.  For years, Public Works Director Carl Weber has warned the city is falling behind in street maintenance.  The council Tuesday night consdiered several optins to fill the budget gap.  Options discussed include a referendum, borrowing, or using reserve funds.  Thoughts of raising the wheel tax, or individual property assessments, didn't get very far.  If a referendum is approved, it could come as early as this fall.
