Urban Alliance calls on State for help accessing federal emergency aid to fund road repairs
After a long, harsh winter, Wisconsin municipalities are continuing to grapple with the heavy damage it has caused to city streets. The Urban Alliance, a component of the League of Wisconsin Municipalities, will be holding a press conference to ask Governor Walker for his support as part of its quarterly meeting this Friday, May 16, at 12:30 p.m. at the Ironworks Hotel in Beloit.
Racine Mayor John Dickert, president of the Urban Alliance, will be joined by Beloit City Manager and League of Wisconsin Municipalities Board President Larry Arft, as well as other municipal officials from around the state.
Last month, the League of Wisconsin Municipalities surveyed Wisconsin cities with populations greater than 10,000. The 21 cities that responded estimated total additional costs caused by this past winter to exceed $5.1 million. The full results of the League's severe winter survey are posted at www.lwm-info.org http://www.lwm-info.org/.
