Janesville police say theft from cars is on the rise

Janesville police say it happens every spring.  Sergeant Brian Donohoue says as people get out to enjoy the warmer weather, thieves are doing the same.  He says the number of thefts from automobiles have gone up with the temperature.  Dohohoue recommends locking automobiles and rolling up the windows, parking close to lights, and avoid leaving valuables where they can easily be seen.  He says only a small amount of thefts actually involve a thief breaking into the vehicle.  Typically they simply open the door.
