Janesville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau seeks volunteers
Janesville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (JACVB) is seeking volunteers to assist at the Visitor Information Center (VIC) located in Palmer Park.
VIC volunteers offer hospitality to guests by answering questions, giving directions and providing information regarding area accommodations, tourism attractions, dining, events and local services to tourists and the community. Each volunteer shift is 4 hours long and schedules are flexible. Helpful attributes for these volunteer positions include a pleasant and friendly manner, general knowledge of the Janesville area and a true enjoyment of meeting and visiting with new people.

The VIC offers a variety of local and statewide tourism information including maps, guides, brochures, event calendars and directions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through mid-September. The facility supplements services provided by the JACVB main office at 20 S. Main Street, Suite 17 located in downtown Janesville. In 2013, 2,500 visitors stopped at the VIC.
The Janesville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is a private non-profit Destination Marketing Organization, whose mission is to lead, support and promote tourism in the area by promoting Janesville as a prime destination for meetings and conventions, motorcoach and leisure travelers, thereby creating a positive economic impact on the community and enhancing the quality of life.” The JACVB is funded by local hotel room tax and receives 47.5% of the room tax collected by the City of Janesville with the remainder going into the city’s general fund.
