AUDIO: Panther spotted within Janesville city limits

A cougar may be roaming the Janesville area.  Police Sergeant Aaron Ellis says a resident in the 3400 block of Tennyson Drive reported seeing a cougar Sunday night about 8:00 p.m. behind his residence.  The resident was able to get a poor quality photo from about 300 feet.  Ellis adds the Illinois Conservation Police notified Rock County area law enforcement Thursday about a black bear cited in several northern Illinois communities.  Later the same day, Clinton Police received a report of a bear in the Carvers Rock Park area.  Ellis says people should avoid these animals and notify the DNR of any encounters.
