State Senator Neal Kedzie resigns

Republican state Senator Neal Kedzie of Elkhorn concludes a 17-year career in Wisconsin's Legislature.

Kedzie is resigning his seat, a little more than a month after announcing he was retiring at the end of the year.

Kedzie announced on Monday he was resigning at the end of the day to pursue a “new opportunity.” In order to pursue this opportunity further, he had to resign.

Kedzie was first elected to the Senate in 2002, then re-elected in 2006 and 2010. Before that, he served four years in the Assembly as the 43rd District representative.

The 11th Senate District includes portions of Jefferson, Waukesha, Rock, Walworth and Kenosha counties.
