The D-N-R is very interested in the reports of cougar sightings on the city's southwest side. District Wildlife Supervisor Eric Lobner says this isn't the first cougar for Rock County. He's quick to point out the big cat which made its home in the Milton area just a few years ago. He says a review of a paw print submitted Tuesday is more likely of a big dog, rather than a cougar. This does not make him disbelieve the two witness accounts however. Lobner reassures residents, cougar attacks on people are very rare. He adds, unless their is a specific threat to human safety or livestock, the DNR will likely do nothing more than try to confirm the cougar's presense.
