AUDIO: An end to orange plastic fences around beer gardens in Janesville

Beer gardens enclosed in orange plastic fencing are a thing of the past at special events in Janesville.

The City Council voted unanimously Monday night to modify the Class B temporary special event license to exempt downtown events from having to erect a four-foot fence around alcohol serving areas.

Downtown Development Alliance Chair Britton Graft says her organization fully supports the change.

While event organizers no longer have to fence off alcohol serving areas, they will be required to provide a wristband to anyone who is drinking, and clearly mark the boundaries of the event.
