Water quality notice issued for Lions Beach

The city of Janesville has issued a water quality notice for Lions Beach.  The most recent water quality test showed elevated levels of bacteria in the swimming area.  Officials say the sample taken show the level of E. coli bacteria present requires the public be notified, even though the beach is still considered safe for swimming.  E-coli levels are still far below any mandatory closing of the beach.  Water quality advisory signs will be removed from the beach when tests show decreased bacteria levels.
