Motorists traveling the freeway in Wisconsin this weekend can expect an increased presence from the Wisconsin State Patrol. Wisconsin law enforcement will join other agencies from across the country in conducting increased patrols for 96 hours straight from Friday through Monday. The effort dubbed the I-90/94 Challenge will cover a total of 5,700 miles of interstate from Massachusetts to Washington State. The Wisconsin State Patrol says there will be high visibility enforcement on the I-90/94 corridors along with aerial enforcement using helicopters. August is one of the deadliest months on Wisconsin roads with an average of 62 deaths during the last five years.
