A bearded Clayton Courtney offers little emotion and fewer words during a plea hearing in Rock County Court. The 28-year-old is accused of bludgeoning 21-year-old Britney Cross to death near the Rock River in Janesville on May 4th, and then going home and viciously attacking a roommate, and attempting to set a fire at their home. Judge James Daley listed seven charges representing a potential life plus 21-and-a-half-year-sentence. Courtney's attorney entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf. The next scheduled court date is October 9th.
