Stuff Happens

By Al Fagerli ( Contact )   February 25, 2008

Sometimes the best laid plans go wrong. Saturday morning I spent a couple of hours getting ready for the two high school games. The first one at Craig, then the night game at Verona. After getting all my ducks in a row with my rosters, scoresheets filled out, notes I took off to Craig and everything went fine. After the game,I went home for a hour or so before heading out to Verona for the Milton game, gathered up my stuff for that game and left. An hour later I arrived at Verona, got out my broadcast equipment, then had this uneasy feeling. Something was missing. Yep,I had left my bag with my game information sitting on the kitchen table. Inside were my notes, the commercial list,my cell phone and pens and pencils. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A PEN. Luckily,I found a pen on the floor of my truck. So that night I did the game with nothing but the roster sheet they give out at the gate. Talk about being out of my comfort zone. Anyway,I got thru it and I hope I didn't sound too bad.

Now you know how a ref feels when he/she forgets some part of their uniform!

Guess we all "blow a call" once in a while. It's how you recover that sets you apart from the "rookies"!

GOOD JOB.....my friend!
