A Dollar a Dream
A 19-year-old lottery winner has plans for his 35 million dollars. He wants to buy his mom a house. He's also thinking of college and perhaps getting into real estate.
But best of all, he wants to quit his job.
Now, here's someone who deserves to win the lottery. What is wrong with those folks who collect their giant check and proclaim they'll keep working? They should be forced to forfeit their winnings. Let someone who wants to retire have the money. Puh-lease!
I don't often buy lottery tickets, but when I do, I spend the weekend dreaming of the things I would do with my winnings:
1 - A long trip to DisneyWorld with the family is high on the list. I'd also treat several friends and their children, too.
2 - We'd pay off the house. And then do some improvements.
3 - A couple newer, more fuel-efficient vehicles would be nice.
4 - And, with all due respect to WCLO and the wonderful Bliss Family, I do enjoy my free time. Therefore, I would gracefully step aside to make room to employ someone who does not deserve to win the lottery.
When you buy that ticket, what do you dream of?

Rose,
You forgot Number 5 on your list! There is a boy over in Delavan that needs adopting, only 64 years old and cute as a button.

Dending on the size of the jackpot, I would lay low for at least 7 years until my portion doubled. I would set up a trust for my immediate family, and then believe it or not, I would design, and build a state of the art private school covering pre-k 3 to 12 grade. Long term I would want the school to make money, but I could afford to be in the red for a while. Of course I would quit my job as soon as the funds were transferred. No real desire for some huge house or lots of cars. I would even stay in Janesville, but with a unlisted number and P.O. Box.

First and foremost I stop working for a living, and start working to live. The next and most important is paying for the cost of Air Conditioning in all of Janesville's public Schools. Not just initially, but set it up to cover all operation costs forever. I don't live by the old thought that "I did not have air in school"..... Blah,Blah,Blah.

I dream of two things if I buy a lottery ticket for a chance at a large prize... 1) Quiting my job and 2) taking care of my parents and grandpa. If I won enough money to support myself, I definitely would quit my job. Instead of working, I would do charity work and give back to my community. It has always been my philosophy that I work to live and my real motivation for working so hard now is so I can retire one day and enjoy some of my life. The second thing I would do is set up something that would allow my parents to retire and live very comfortably and to take care of my grandpa (allowing him to get any new car he wants --- cars are his favorite thing).

I have to agree with you. Anybody who wins millions and still wants to work puzzles me.
