I'm left holding the bag(s)!

By Rose Stricker ( Contact )   July 15, 2008

Shorewood is going bagless. Instead of a chicken in every pot, they're trying to get a reusable bag in every home and fewer plastic bags in their landfill.

I'm all for the reusable grocery bags. In fact, our family owns several already.

But, I have a small problem. Without thinking, I purchased all our reusable bags from one grocery store in town... even though we shop at several different stores. Naturally, the store's logo is printed, very boldly, on both sides of the bags.

So, here's my question: can I use my bag from one store in another store? Will they give me dirty looks? Break my eggs? Squish my bread? Do I worry too much about it?

I was so self-conscious of the logo that while shopping today I ended up with four more plastic bags even though I had six canvas ones right there in the car.

Am I the only person with this quandry? If you have reusable bags, what do you do?

I was actually wondering that too if I took my woodmans bag into logli if they would say anything or what? logli is quicker and produce SOOOOO much better than woodmans.

if you're really paranoid about it.. you could simply turn 'em inside out. Not fashionable, I realize, but do-able. Or slap a huge WCLO sticker over the store logo. :o)

The only time I had a cashier comment on it was at the store where I got the bag. The cashier noticed the seam was ripped and told me if it gets worse they'd replace it for free.
