A Janesville teenager has been critically injured in a "car surfing" accident.

Police say the 16-year-old was hanging onto the hood of a car Friday night a little after 9:00 p.m. in the Job Center parking lot, when the 17-year-old driver turned quickly. The 16-year-old boy rolled off onto the pavement, striking his head. He was taken to Mercy hospital with serious head injuries.

The 17-year-old is facing charges.

Kids still do this? I would have thought that when the Edgerton girl, Fawn Mylenbush, I believe, died doing this in the early 90's, it would have at least dampered this activity. Maybe it's been long enough now that kids have gotten stupid again. It's sad that there has to be another wake-up call for young people to realize this isn't something you should do. Then again, I would have thought common sense would dictate it.
