As the Janesville School Board grapples over a proposed 5% tax levy increase in next year's budget, District Business Manager Doug Bunton advises WCLO's Stan Milam Show caution should be taken.
Bunton says we are in a slightly declining enrollment environment. He says with the revenue cap, more budget reductions will be needed in the next few years. Bunton says the school board dipped into district savings to reduce the impact on last year's tax levy. He says part of the reason for the jump in this year's levy is a reduction in state aid.
The school board will discuss the budget again next week Tuesday.

I find it amazing that with talk of increasing taxes, declining enrollment and budget cuts over the next few years that the district has found money to add girls hockey and give the wrestling teams at both Parker and Craig there "own rooms" to practice.

This just goes to prove that it doesn't matter how well or poor the local economy is, us taxpayers can never give too much. If you idiots on the school board can't live within our means, then quit your jobs so we can bring in people who can.
