A close call for a canoeist on the Rock River in Janesville.

Fire Chief Larry Grorud says the call came in around 9:00 Monday night. Grorud says the river had been closed because of the dangerous current. The worry was the canoeist would go over Monterey Dam. The fire department deployed south of Memorial Bridge.

The canoeist was able to battle back to shore.

people walking through this water after being warned on radio-tv-newspaper, etc are just showing other people how "??? strong ??? they are. authority doesnt mean anything to them. Attitudes like this are running rampant through through the whole country. Hospitals are full of them.

ok, so why would anyone want to be THAT close to the nasty water? don't people realize that there is sewage in the river? I mean, who's to say it wasn't there before all the flooding, but now it's REALLY nasty gross. I don't think I'd even eat the fish coming out of it if my life depended on it (I'm not a huge fan of fish to begin with!).
