What the hell do you guys think, that the EPD had nothing to do that day, so they picked this house to do a training excercise? The story is necessarily incomplete for privacy reasons. So instead of pretending to know what you are talking about, why not just start from the premise that EPD did what was required of the situation--in a way that everyone lived, and no one was hurt. Some of you would criticize God for taking 7 days to create the world. Diarrhea of the gums and constipation of the brain.

Another reason why justices should not be elected. I've known the 'Chief' professionally for years; I would place her integrity near that of the Pope--donations or not. She is the only Justice I would make that comment about.

Consider this: London, England has so many video cameras now, that if you spent an 8-hour day shopping there, you would be on no fewer than 300 video tapes. And now, they've added a two-way voice hookup as well, so the cops can not only watch you, but yell at you on the speakers! BTW, Chicago has a bunch of cameras--both red-light, and general surveillance; and, they want more.

PRIMARILY, these are simply easy revenue machines. Yes, they may have SOME merit in deterring red light violations, but, despite all the 'safety' rhetoric of the politicians, they just want these to make money. Not to mention a due process issue. It may take 3-5 days, or more, to get your automatic ticket. How on earth can you remember what you did, what happened, who might be a witness, etc, that long after the allegation that you did something wrong, and try to mount a defense? They've already taken them down in several communities, because of crashes that occurr when people slam on the brakes to avoid a ticket, and get rear-ended. Woe to the day when the 'telescreens' of George Orwell's "1984" actually become the reality.

I'm not an english major by any stretch, but I would change this headline....I had to read it twice before I realized that it was NOT the new asst. city atty for Janesville that is accused of this crime! How about: "Janesville Man Accused of Rape Gets New Attorney"?
