"Kohl tells WCLO's Stan Milam Show, in Washington this week, the health care bill includes regulations he's been working on for years. Among them, requiring background checks for nursing home employees. He says rating systems of nursing homes will also be available".

And this is what caused him to vote "Yes" on this horrific healthcare bill? Not enough for me to vote for him.

The GM Plant is "idled". Kohl can't place or even think of placing a new business in there until GM determines that they will have no future use for the plant and are putting it up for sale or lease.

Went downtown for the first time in four years last week to attend a meeting and didn't see anything that would cause me to go back so I doubt the free internet would bring me down there. I do, however, think it would be a good thing for downtown and would be really great if all of Janesville was included.

I really am disappointed. You would think that an elected official would be eager to hear what his entire constituency's concerns are. Maybe the Rotary Club can re-elect him next time. August is now half over and so far, I haven't seen any public town halls scheduled for Janesville. Maybe I missed it.

Sounds good but I have questions.

How will this machine be used?
What disciplines will it be used for?
Why would a person be scheduled (or not scheduled) to receive this surgery?

I don't really think this is an article worth writing without the usual how, when, what, where, and why questions being answered. This is little more than a statement.

Can we have further clarification?

I find it interesting that many of us are losing jobs and tightening our belts, cutting expenses to the bare essentials because of wage cuts or cuts in hours worked but our local and state governments can't trim their budgets. Instead they raise our taxes. You can't get blood out of a stone and I suggest you get your revenue from cuts in your salaries and benefits. We should all share the pain, and that includes our elected officials.

Hannah, your guess is as good as mine. A plastic bag is a plastic bag, Yes or no? Even the ones in the produce department leak. I have brought sopping wet lettuce home many times and the bags leak. This bag thing is just a start as with all other bans. Why not ban plastic trash bags? They fill the landfill, also. Plastic bags are plastic bags.

Gee.....another rule for conducting business in Janesville. Just what we need, more rules to encourage them to close up shop here and open somewhere else. I would think that with the economic downturn, Janesville could find other things to discuss rather than the pros and cons of plastic bag usage. I sure can remember having to double bag wet items and hope the paper bag didn't soak through and soil my car seat before I got home. Paper bags sound good but then, the grocer has to figure the cost of double bagging. Canvas bags can spread disease......suppose you bring your bag this week to purchase meat (E-Coli), next week you use the bag for cucumbers. Your cucumbers are cross contaminated with E-Coli. Suppose you purchase tomatoes which can contain Salmonella. You discard the tomatoes after a recall but the bag still contains salmonella. Yes.....beware...the absence of plastic bags can create a bigger nightmare. It is a health risk.
