Totellthetruth, we should be praising President Obama for having the wisdom to continue the policies and tactics of the Bush Administration in spite of all that campaign rhetoric he spewed against his predecessor.
No, Bin Laden's death won't kill his movement. But it should cripple it, at least for a while.

Apparently, you can't come back until the union bosses tell you to, Senator Cullen. As for seeing the details of that budget, you can see them just as soon as you report back to work, if that ever happens.

Isn't it funny how all criticism of the job the union teachers are doing and the union that protects poor teacher's jobs is always classified as teacher bashing whether the criticism is legitimate or not? If you say that public schools waste a lot of money, that's teacher bashing. If you say the teacher's union doesn't negotiate in good faith, that's teacher bashing. If you point out how nearly impossible it is to fire a poor teacher, that's teacher bashing. You know, it looks to me like the term "teacher bashing" is nothing more than a cliché meant to disqualify criticizers and to stifle debate.

That's about $45.77 per linear foot for this bike trail (9504 feet = 1.8 miles, $435000 divided by 9504). The city of Janesville charges less than $30 a linear foot for concrete sidewalks! Someone's wallet is sure going to get stimulated!

It may well be a waste of electricity and money to leave on those lights, but dark buildings invite intruders, so maybe they were left on to deter crime.

Yes Gmaof3, but what about all that carbon being released into the environment! This may be the straw that breaks the proverbial global warming camel's back!

Does Rep. Baldwin really presume to know what motivated Sec. Kempthorne's "biased" decision? It's fine for her to seek a new decision from the incoming, and anticipatedly more agreeable, Interior Secretary, but it seems to be beyond her to resist her own graceless biases in her press releases. She convicts herself with her own contentions.

This will be entertaining to watch the state "phase in" a new massive spending plan while it struggles to "phase out" the huge old budget deficit while resisting the urge to "phase in" massive new tax increases so that the Governor and the new majority in the Assembly don't get "phased out" of office in 2010.

This is amazing. The Post Office is about to go bankrupt. Even though this remodeling may make sense in the long term, when bankruptcy looms, it's improper to spend money on upgrades when you are soon going to have trouble paying your obligations. Even government administrators should know that. If a private business or an individual did that just before filling for bankruptcy, they may well face criminal charges. That's the trouble with government-run services. There's no one to answer to for being fiscally irresponsible. After all, the folks that run the Post Office are sure that one way or another, the taxpayers are going to bail them out. They always have before. It's not like the post office will ever be shut down even if UPS can do a better job. I wonder, can we sell the post office to UPS or would we have to pay them to take it off our hands?
