While the down town doesn't have the same types of shop that you find at the mall,it is by no means 'dead'. I frequently visit several of the businesses on Main and it is difficult to find a parking spot. The parking lot where the old parking ramp was has a lot of leased stalls so it has very limited parking. Wake up people - you can't shop or eat down town without the parking to support it.

Everyone seems to have an opinion about the services Mercy ER and Edgerton ER have provided to them, both good and bad. Mercy ER and other Mercy staff saved my husbands life when he was admitted for a heart attack. I am here to tell you that there was no time wasted in the triage area, and yes, we bi-passed many others waiting in the ER. Some people use the ER for their personal Dr. visits when they should be using Urgent Care. As far as Kerry Swanson not being able to practice her nursing in WI - I'm sure she will get her license for WI in due time. Correct me if I am wrong but it doesn't state that Dean is hiring her as a nurse so it should not be an issue.

I am curious about the comment from proartist: "If not, take some of your time from volunteering in the program to talk to those residents who do. It may not be hurting ALL of Janesville but there are individual homeowners who could tell you first hand what it has done to them."
I am a volunteer of Gifts and I can't imagine what any neighbor could find negative about this program. Apparently you have appointed yourself to speak on their behalf - so what are those issues?

This reminds me of a time when I was sitting in my car behind Bergners. A very nice, large, Cadillac pulls into a parking stall within my view. An elderly woman opens the door and proceeds to empty her ashtray and trash on the ground. I sat there in disbelief! I let her do that with no comment from me. I was so angry at her and even more upset with myself for not speaking up. I'm sure she was harmless but in other situations, I tell myself, and my husband, that the individual doing dumb things just may have some type of weapon, and go 'postal', so let it go. It's very sad that our society dictates some of us doing the right thing for fear of our lives.

Traditionaly my husband and I give Dad a gift card for one of his favorite stores. This year, in addition to the gift card, I decided to make breakfast for Dad. I enjoyed doing it possibly more than Dad did and it makes me think that I should do that much more often - not just for Fathers Day.
