The intoxicated driver will likely charge that the flashing speed sign distracted him, causing him to lose control of his vehicle. He will then settle out of court and be awarded a few hundred thousand dollars - now that's our court system at work.

At halftime UCONN coach Jim Calhoun must have thought to himself that sitting home in the recliner, if front of the big screen with a bowl of popcorn was, by far, the better place to be.

Now that both schools will have a fieldhouse, perhaps, rather than keeping those facilities under constant lock and key during the weekends, they can be opened up for use by the various club sports in town to host tournaments. The booster club could run the concessions for these tournaments as fundraising efforts.

The clubs have a venue in which to host a tournament.
The school's athletic program makes money from the concessions.
The kids (whose parents pay the taxes) have a place to play.
The city benefits from drawing families from other cities to the tournament who will need housing, food and gas.
The high school teams benefit from having more experienced players coming to them.

This certainly isn't a unique idea because it is something in which most other school districts participate.
