Oh nice, at least I will reap some benefit from this Chinese funded stimulus package. Granted the package will not save any jobs, leave a unsustainable debt that will create a total economic collapse down the road, but damn it, I'll be able to ride a nice bike path! I guess after I ride that I can go to Iowa and not have to smell that pig stench; as millions went to fund Pig odor as well. VERY productive use of borrowed $$$ to get the economy back on it's feet!

I thought both were equally awful. Neither one ever answered the question that was ASKED. They just went off on some other SCRIPTED tangent of talking points that had NOTHING TO DO with what the moderator asked them. It was really pathetic. One of the worse debates I have ever seen in my life. I turned it off a 1/2 hour in and watched the Cubs MELTDOWN instead, which was 1000X more entertaining! I watched the replay of the debate later in the evening to see some of what I had missed, and I missed NOTHING. It was just as brutally awful as the 1st 30 minutes. It really just exposed how atrocious both these candidates are. Never in American history has the public selected candidates this appallingly bad in the primaries.

One thing they are NOT telling you is that this drop is with a SEC BAN of short selling imposed last week to almost every financial stock. If that ban was not in place, the market would have dropped 1500pts today, easy. The ban is suppose to be lifted Oct 2nd. No doubt it will be extended now.
Funny, but the huge drop in the dow, and financials was being blamed on people like me (the shorters).....
Market is down 770pts today with NO SHORTING..
OOOOOPS..SO MUCH FOR THAT THEORY!
The options players are making a killing on these wild swings, that's for sure.

Your $$$ is perfectly safe even if you are in a bank that goes under. All accounts are insured by the FDIC up to $100K. If you have more then that in any one saving/checking account, you should break that up into multiple accounts. If you own stock through an investment banker that goes under (like Lehman Brothers) that is all safe to. YOU own all the assets (in stocks /bonds) and they simply brokered it. By law, all those assets are returned to you, despite their firm failing.
.
If you own stock, you better have a pretty strong stomach these days, as this market is as volatile as they come. If you diversify make sure part of your diversification is SHORTING some areas of the market, and not just being spread out all over the place. Right now, I would not want to be long in much of any sector of this market.
.
Also never let any bafoon tell you to "buy and hold". That is such nonsense. If you have a failed stock play, cut your losses, and get the hell out. Don't just keep holding, and loose your a$$ as it keeps going down. These guys who own GM stock have been loosing for 15 years straight by buying and holding. Also never let anyone tell you to " never time the market". Again more utter nonsense that many still believe. Playing a stock is all about proper timing. Buying when it's under priced, and selling when it's over priced.

Congrats to Paul Ryan!!
It's good to see that some who go to Washington still believe in less government, lower taxes, more personal freedom, and don't become part of the elitist/big government crowd. To bad he is only one of a handful on the hill who adhere to these strong principals.

This ticket will never happen. You can be assure of that. Obama will most likely choose Bill Richardson. Strategically the wisest thing to do, because he is very weak among Hispanics. So weak, that California could actually come into play for McCain. If McCain wins CA, it's not a matter if he wins, but by how much.

On Democratic dream ticket may be possible
