Responding to "wisconsinheat" comment: The question only asks if $45 is a reasonable monthly co-pay. It is. We pay a co-pay of $345 a month for lousy insurance.

On The leadership for the Janesville Education Association has accepted a new contract that calls for teachers to pay $43 a month for a family health insurance plan. Is that reasonable?

We need someone who will actually work for us. McCain, Clinton & Obama all spent more time campaigning than they did voting in the U.S. Senate, so they certainly weren't working for their constituents. Many people in Illinois feel cheated as they voted Obama in as their State Senator and he's virtually been a no-show for votes in D.C. Ron Paul is a Libertarian. They are basically against government, including public schools and Social Security, so the glue of our nation would dry out. I think the two candidates who might actually have been effective have already dropped out, Kucinich and Richardson. I have not decide who should be President. i don't feel our choices are viable.

On Who should be the next president?

I attended 3 films, 2 of which were excellent. The 2 on Thursday evening were poorly-attended; probably because people were working. All 3 films I saw were in Eaton Chapel. It was so cold in there that people wore jackets, scarves, gloves and hats throughout the films. Please, turn on the heat next year if you are going to continue using that venue.

Stan, I can't remember which day the topic of discussion was the WI Supreme Court and Judge Ziegler, but I want to commend you on never getting worked up about any topic :-)

That's why I like to listen to you . . . no one ever knows where you stand.

I believe that most taxpayers do not know that when teachers don't work, they aren't paid. In other words, there is no paid vacation, a benefit most working people enjoy. Christmas vacation, spring break, summer are all unpaid for teachers. Plus the state REQUIRES that teachers take 6 credits at an accredited university every 5 years or they lose their certification to teach, in effect, they lose their livelihood. IF teachers want to move lanes, that is increase their pay level, they must pay for these credits. Typical current grad credits run anywhere from $150 to $300 an hour, so 6 hours of credits could cost a teacher about $2000, including textbooks, transportation, etc. Some districts, Janesville, for example, will pay for the teacher's credits as long as they don't plan to advance lanes. Other districts, such as Milton, don't pay for credits ever. Just some things to mull over.

On Let's go at this Janesville public school teacher pay issue from another direction. On average, teachers will receive a salary increase in excess of 5 percent. Is this not enough, about right or too much?
