Janesville has had music venues off and on for decades. The blues bars and R&R bars don't pay the bills, at least not reliably. Slick's worked because the building was payed off and minimal cost. Not many patrons will put up with those kinds of conditions anymore. A few clubs remain but live music is not always economically feasible in Janesville. The Back Bar is not the only place to go. You might have to head out to the Real McCoy's or stay downtown. J'ville doesn't have the support for live music that Madison does.

I agree completely. The Rock County area has some wonderful venues to offer the games and visitors. I wouldn't mind having those Italian cyclists or maybe some Romanian gymnasts stay at our home if the venue could be arranged!

In these times and tough economy we should use every opportunity to support local government with outside funds, not taxes. Eventually the fairgrounds will become too small for the fair and other uses will be found for the property. The towers will not be an overwhelming negative effect on the community.

It's important for everyone to pitch in and help with these kinds of projects. They present an excellent opportunity for teaching young people to be community activists. Teachers, scout leaders, basketball and football coaches, etc., should all consider having their groups get involved. Our downtown needs everyone's constant vigilance and help!
