My father is the same way--my question to the rest of the like-fathered commenters is, Do you feel this has affected your own life decisions to seek treatment for health concerns? I have found that my father's laid-back reaction to injury has, up until recently, caused me to only seek medical attention when I consider my injuries to be near life-threatening! I've wised up now, though...

Hear, hear Stan! Ziegler deserves to be reprimanded appropriately, not just slapped on the wrist. You get to the underlying issue--election reform for the Supreme Court. Please keep talking about this to keep it fresh in our minds!
On Will we get serious about cleaning up the Wisconsin Supreme Court?

Okay, you inspired me to do some research (well, you and an email from American Cancer Society's Advocacy Network!). I learned that the new budget included a 50% increase in funding for the state's Comprehensive Tobacco Control Program, which brings the funding to $15 million:

I only see a breakdown by county (and I don't have the time right now to read the whole report or interpret the charts), so how much of that goes to each community and how much is spent on adolescent prevention vs. adult cessation is a mystery to me!

My sister and her husband used to buy cartons of smokes when they came to visit WI from MI because they were so much cheaper here. Thankfully, they quit smoking because they thought paying upwards of $6 per pack of cigarettes in MI was ridiculous. And they are both earning over $30,000 per year, so income wasn't really a factor--it was just that they chose not to spend that much money on something that could potentially kill them. With that being said, I don't think MI is going to get too much of WI smokers' money after this increase! But I also agree with Tim about giving smokers the resources required to quit smoking so that they don't have to scrounge up pennies to pay for their addictions.

From the perspective of someone who was prepared and left earlier than expected on a drive to the Dells on Saturday, I would like to thank everyone who drove slowly and was aware of the conditions of the road. There weren't many people passing us "slow" drivers because the conditions were such that the careful drivers were all moving at the same speed--about 40 mph on the interstate. Regarding Saturday/Sunday’s snowstorm, the Gazette reported the following : “Authorities say most of the hundreds of traffic accidents could have been avoided if drivers had simply prepared and driven a little slower.” Thank you to all the patient people for factoring the extra time it would take to travel this weekend and being careful!

It depends what other ingredients are in the experimental cheese--if it is just the Omega-3's added, I'd probably participate for less than $65! I think I know why they didn't do the tasting in WI, though--we know what the best cheese in the world tastes like and they would NEVER find a suitable recipe to please us! Their experiment would be fruitless!

It's really NOT that amazing, Powertrip. Can you imagine the backlash the city would experience if they were killing geese in the parks? Not to mention safety issues--Now I'm not a hunter, so I actually am curious to hear suggestions on how the city would control a hunting ground in a city park so that no one gets shot in the process of eliminating geese? Maybe the city could just lay asphalt down wherever the geese nest--seemed to work for the new Menard's development!
On Janesville's goose population program continues
