JYFB is back

By Al Fagerli ( Contact )   August 14, 2008

Monday night the silence was broken and I didn't mind at all. During the spring and summer, the ball fields at the grade school not far from my house is busy every night with softball and youth baseball practices and games. Right around fair time it all ends and pretty much all that is going on is school district personnel mowing the grass. Then Monday night.....the sounds of whistles, the sound of one, two, three, four in unison from groups of youngsters getting the Janesville Youth Football practice season underway.

Watching the little ones practice is the most fun. After a few practices without equipment, the fun really starts. While the equipment is fitted, there is an adjustment period and while everyone wants to be the quarterback or the top running back, the kids do learn that it takes 11 to be a team. That is the goal of Janesville Youth Football. Here at WCLO,we have a couple of guys who coach JYFB teams. That's fun too,as they are always talking about their teams, plus they both think they could lead any NFL team to the Super Bowl. Keep dreamin' fellas.
