Avatar is worth seeing twice
I got the chance to see Avatar a second time, but this time at the IMAX in Fitchburg.
Was it worth it? Yes... not only to see it again in a theater, but to add the IMAX experience.
I can't add much to my summary of the movie I gave in my previous blog. I was, however, able to look closer at several scenes that went by too quickly the first time around, and I picked up on some subtle comments in the dialogue I missed during the first viewing.
The IMAX viewing was a little better than the regular 3-D version I saw last week. The screen is bigger and the 3-D effect is about 10% better. The formats are different, with the IMAX system using the blue/red glasses and the other 3-D theaters using clear glasses that somehow (I don't know the technique) gives you the 3-D depth.
The final bonus from the second viewing was seeing the movie with long time friends.
I still rate the movie an 8 on a scale of 10.

I agree that it is difficult to use those 3-D glasses over glasses. Got to keep the nose tipped up so that gravity helps keep the 3-D glasses on, which gives me a neck ache. But Avatar was worth it! (I saw it 3-D in Fitchburg, but not IMAX - it was sold out.)
