Too many crashes

By Steve Benton ( Contact )   March 8, 2011

Another traffic accident with multiple deaths... another tragedy for local families and the community to endure.
The latest accident was reported in Beloit early Tuesday (03/08/11) morning and involved a car traveling at a high rate of speed hitting a tree and power pole. Beloit police say three people died at the scene while one was transported to Rockford Memorial hospital in critical condition. February 28th two Beloit men died in a one car accident in Bradford Township in Rock County. Green County, our neighbor to the West, reported three deaths in a two car accident on March 5th. Can anything be done to change these types of outcomes? I don't know... do you? There are plenty of reminders in the media about the proper way to drive but yet these accidents continue to happen. I will continue to report these news events because it's my job and responsibility to inform the public, but my heart goes out to the families of the victims and to all their friends who are affected by these crashes. Sorry about the mood busting blog... but these three incidents, so close together, are on my mind.

Slow down, stop texting and wear your seatbelts. Simple.

Stop being in such a hurry!
Really - any need to be going 80!!!?????
People passing on highways when volume is high. These same people passing more than one car at a time because volume is high. Just relax . If you don't pass the three cars I bet it will only mean 5 minutes. It may mean the SAME time because of that high volume. You pass those three and risk all those lives only to behind three more only going 55 BECAUSE of high volume. When people honk at you, YOU ARE THE IDIOT, Yes you - missed the stop sign or what ever. Don't give US the dirty look like WE have done something wrong!!
